Recently NJ Center for Healthy Living chose
to eliminate the sale of individual plastic
water bottles at its Center in Montclair;
a tri-fold effort to reduce waste, support
our environment, and give attention to the
growing concern regarding Bisphenol A leaching
from plastic into the water. Please stay
on top of this growing health and environmental
concern. While the FDA continues to defend plastic
bottles,
it would appear responsible and caring to
immediately eliminate use of plastic bottles
where our infants and toddler are concerned!

to stack up high on the benefits of having a decent breakfast before heading
off to school. From the Nutrition Explorations website: A healthy breakfast

Try these tips for keeping cool on those late summer days still ahead of us:
A tiny drop of peppermint oil placed at the back of the neck
on a hot summer
day will cool the entire body!
Essential oils like sandalwood, rose and lavender all possess
cooling properties. Add a few drops of any of these oils into a carrier oil like
coconut or massage
oil and enjoy the benefits of a cooling self-massage.
High grade essential oils can be purchased at NJ Center for Healthy Living!
Place a splash of organic pomegranate or cranberry juice in
sparkling water with a squeeze of lime and a sprig of mint and refresh your taste
buds while you hydrate
and nourish the body.
Cooling summer vegetables include cucumbers, asparagus, and
baby bok choy. Add them to your favorite summer salad and enjoy the benefits
of their cooling properties.
Don’t forget that humans require Vitamin D. Enjoy the
sun with proper timing
and protection.

As we begin 2007, many healthcare professionals
are NOT encouraging the rash of New Year
resolutions pledged by patients and clients.
Research indicates that
people tend to fixate on structuring several lifestyle changes in the first month
of the year – only to blow them off in the following months.
For this reason we appreciate the article “12
Months, 12 Healthy New Habits” by
Bob Condor for MSN Health & Fitness. It encourages a year long, month-to-month
plan of extremely achievable goals that will actually place you in a completely
different (better!) state of mind-body-spirit by New Year’s Day 2008.
